A Casein Free Diet
A diet free from casein, a protein commonly found in most animal milk, has sheen shown to be beneficial for kids with ASD
Casein makes up 80% of the proteins in cows milk and is incredibly difficult for the body to digest due to lack of proper enzymes. This can cause gas, bloating, bad use, stomach pain, constipation or diarrhea
Casein also directly blocks folate receptors in the body and prevents folate from entering the cerebral spinal fluid. Casein also acts similar to gluten and binds to the brains opioid receptors, creating a foggy brain and an addiction to products containing casein
Casein is also responsible for raising glutamate in the body. Children with Autism also have high levels of glutamate. Glutamate is a neurotransmitter that “excites.” This can cause an increase in stimming, tics and hyperactivity. GABA is used to balance glutamate and create a more calming sensation. Reducing glutamate also helps control seizures, which are a co-morbid condition for up to 40% of children with Autism
Dairy acts like gasoline to inflammation, causing it to flare out of control. This is partially due to leaky gut and the caseins ability to leak into the bloodstream, where it becomes u recognizable to the body
